In recent years, the pendulum has swung too far as traditional liberalism has found itself being forced to take a knee to increasingly radical and “woke” progressivism. Nowhere has this been more evident than in the workplace. For example, many have heard about the recent controversy in which a high school teacher in Oakville made worldwide headlines for adorning giant prosthetic breasts in the classroom. In that situation, the Halton District School Board had initially refused to act stating that it believed that implementing a dress code could land it in hot water with the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. However, as Howard Levitt explains in this article, “woke” progressivism has become so radical that we can now even expect human rights tribunals to act sensibly in curbing it.
